- A diagnosis of mental retardation with or without other disabilities.
- State of Maryland as the primary service area (each application considered on an individual basis).
- A Psychological Evaluation completed within three years of the date of application must be submitted with the application.
- Print application form and mail completed
form to MTRC.
- Receive approval by the Board of Directors.
- Complete payment of sponsorship fee.
- Establish an information file which documents the family, medical, and
program history of the client and outlines the client's and family's interest
and goals.
Services can begin immediately and can accelerate with the death or disablement of the client's sponsor(s).
- Activates advocacy services delivered by volunteers and MTRC staff contracted on a fee-for-service basis.
- Includes interaction with any named legal guardian or specified family member.
- Level of advocacy is determined on a case by case basis and availability of resources. Sponsors are encouraged to establish a source of funds to pay for needed supplemental services.
- MTRC is a private, non-profit, tax-exempt charitable corporation.
MTRC is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors serving three-year staggered terms.
- MTRC is funded by sponsorship fees and individual and corporate contributions.
Sponsorship fees received are professionally invested and managed. The earnings of the investments provide funds to maintain a basic level of operation.
