KCSRA Goals & Activities:

Unit 08 works to promote the general welfare of its members by protecting and improving state retirement benefits for present and future school retirees. Members volunteer in schools to promote public education, and our unit provides mini-grants to classroom teachers for class projects and awards college scholarships to students planning to enter the field of education.

Meeting Information:

KCSRA meets at the Elks Lodge on Pine Road in East Bremerton on the 4th Thursday each month, with the exception of  December's Christmas Tea and the summer months of July, August and November when we do not meet.

Programs begin at 10:45 a.m., with the business meeting following. The lunch bar consists of a soup and a variety of sandwiches. Everyone is invited to stay for the Elks Tea Dance beginning at 12:30 with live music and drinks.

  (There is ample parking and a drop-off portico designed for handicap convenience.)

September 25 - Bring donations of students' school supplies to bundle for the Kitsap Peninsula school districts' needy students

October 23 - November's election candidates are invited for questions and answers

November - NO MEETING

 

December 11 - Christmas Tea and Bazaar at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Bremerton

 

January 23 - "Our Favorite Things"; bring one item to share with the group

 

February 26 - Literacy Council (tentative)

 

March 26 - "Magical Strings"; Celtic-rooted music by Philip and Pam Bolding

 

April 23 - Story Telling (tentative)

 

May 28 - "The Tea Lady"; Lois Rimer will give us the history of tea, what is a good tea, and how to prepare a tasty cup of tea

 

June 25 - Summer Picnic

 

July & August - NO MEETINGS

South Kitsap High School students sang for us at the April meeting.

 

Guest Judy Kennedy performed with songs of the 40s and 50s at the February meeting.

 

The Hometown Band entertained us at the summer picnic in the adjacent Elks Campground.
