The board meeting was held at 2:00 PM, January 17, 1999.

Quorum: With fifteen members present and four proxies, it was determined that a quorum had been reached and the President called the meeting to order.

President’s Report: After having suggested the Club move in with the Mechanics' Institute two years ago, the Board instead requested contributions to meet the budget shortfall. During those two years, many people contributed money. Last year, a movement was started to move the Club, resulting in its present location, and many people were key with such items as curtains, painting, a rug and others. While the present location is small, the Labor Day tournament was a success. A special mention goes to: James Chien for his Saturday morning classes with children, Mark Terry for his work with the records and newsletter, and Danny Swarzman for his work with the newsletter. Activities yet to be completed are the establishment of a 501.C.3 status and closure to non-reporting to the IRS. Lloyd announced he would not run for the Board again, though he would continue with the Thursday classes.

Member Passing Away/Illness: Member C. J. Moon passed away in Los Angeles on January 11. Shinji Dote is ill.

Treasurer’s Report: Lloyd has worked many hours to keep the Club together. The projection of income is $16,000 in 1999; 25 more members are required to meet the deficit. A copy of the Treasurer's Annual Report is attached to the minutes [at the Go Club].

Nominations for the Board: Irv Wasserman, Guy Moreau, Ben Barrett, Akira Oshiro and Eric Ecklor were nominated for the Board. The nominations were proclaimed closed. A unanimous vote (without recourse to the proxy votes) proclaimed the five members the 1999 Members of the Board.
