As the unofficial biographer of Bob Brinker and keeper of sacred knowledge of the inner workings of the long term stock market timing model, I have compiled some background information on Mr. Brinker. I have been collecting information about him for many years while doing my newsletter. Part of the information came directly from Bob Brinker which I summarized in my newsletter. Other information came directly from Bob Brinker's posts on the Internet. Some information even came from my own personal dealings when I was in negotiations to post exclusively on bobbrinker.com. There is also some anecdotal stories that Bob has said about himself that I have not verified. If anyone has corrections or additions to this biography I have put together, please let me know so I can post a correction. I am still compiling this biography and will post it in several parts over the coming weeks.

BOB BRINKER BIO - PART I. (Part II - V to be posted in the future)

by David Korn, unofficial and unauthorized biographer of Bob Brinker.

Chapter 1. From Humble Beginnings.

Bob Brinker has said his last name "Brinker" is Pennsylvania Dutch. Bob was born and raised in the greater Philadelphia area, very close to Maryland in Philadelphia, PA. Almost every year, his family would spend the vacation time along the Jersey shore. Bob has mentioned fondly his memories of playing at the arcade in Cape May, New Jersey.

Bob has said that he remembers as a kid living within eye sight of the construction of the Willigrove exit on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and going across the street and playing in the woods and watching people build the Pennsylvania turnpike. This was in the early 1950s. As of the writing in this post, Bob is 66 years old.

Chapter 2. His Roots.

Bob Brinker's father was involved in the first computer project in Philadelphia. Bob Brinker's mother died at age 51 which Bob attributes to a history of smoking, even though she had stopped smoking earlier in her life. That is one of the reasons Bob holds tobacco companies in such contempt, saying that he would never own a share of a company like Phillip Morris when their product kills their own customers. Bob has acknowledged that by virtue of his owning the S&P 500 Index or Total Stock Market Index, he is an unwilling holder of Phillip Morris, but only of a small percentage. Bob has said that his paternal Grandparents are from Greensburg, Pennsylvania.

Chapter 3. Education.

Bob Brinker has an undergraduate degree in economics from LaSalle University. He was in the Masters Program at Temple University Radio School of Broadcasting.

At one time, Bob taught investment classes at Rider College in Lawrenceville, New Jersey (now Rider University).

Chapter 4. The Family Man.

Bob Brinker is married. He has spoken very little of his wife, but did say she has no interest in the financial industry or the investment advisory business. He has two children (that I am aware of) -- a boy and a girl. His son is Robert M. Brinker (a/k/a Bob Brinker Jr.) Bob Jr. earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Old Dominion University. He then went on to earn his Master of Science in Information Systems from the University of Colorado. Bob Jr. was also the web master of bobbrinker.com. Bob also has a daughter who went to the University of North Carolina.

Chapter 5. Bob Brinker's Politics.

You could probably talk to a dozen people and get 12 different views on what Bob's politics are. I will try to give just the facts. Bob has said that he is a registered Independent. Bob said he opposed the Vietnam war, and worked hard politically to voice his opposition. As far as the Iraq war, Bob was very strongly behind President Bush's initial decision to go into Iraq. Bob called Sadaam Hussein a "weapon of mass destruction." Bob has since changed his tune and now has heavily criticized Bush over the Iraq war. In recent years, Bob has stated that he believes in global warming as a threat and advocates the use of nuclear energy. Bob said he drives a Prius which he bought for the first time in 2006.

As far as taxes are concerned, Bob seems to be in favor of tax cuts overall, but has criticized some of Bush's tax policies for too heavily slanted to the wealthy, although Bob has said that any tax cut is better than none. Bob has also criticized people who want to massive estate tax estates, and has suggested that a minimum amount be exempt, such as the first $10 million.

Bob has referred to President Bush as an "empty suit". However, he has no love lost on former President Clinton either, once referring to him in an Internet post as a "sex crazed Arkansas bubba trailer trash bum."
